October a not so sunny day

I figured I would write in my blog since I have not done that in awhile.  Today is a not so sunny day in October.  The leaves are turning all there pretty colors but the sun has yet to appear from the clouds in the sky.  The temperature is a warm 75 degrees.  We just celebrated Autumn Leaf Festival in Clarion, PA over the weekend.  I had a great weekend but now it is time to get back to reality and back to working my tail off.  Tomorrow is my daughter's 10th birthday! Where did the years go?  Because they seemed to have went so fast to me.

Tomorrow also marks my step dads first chemo treatment he received last year for his cancer.  The cancer that took his life to soon and to fast.  You know the funny thing about cancer is that it does not care if you are rich or poor, it will still rob you of everything you loved and have loved in your life.  The passing of Steve Jobs at the age of 56 reminded me of that.  Steve was a brilliant soul and he was taken to soon from the evil of cancer.  Cancer to me is the real devil of the earth.  Haunts me daily and reminds me that it will always be over my head watching me, ready to pounce at any minute or any day.  So I want to give big hugs to any person affected by cancer and tell them they are not alone.

Onto better and brighter things I must go.  I have been working at the Foxburg Inn Hotel since April.  Working my tail off to help my husband with the bills and etc.  Things have been going a little easier for us but still seems like we are not getting anywhere in life.  I guess you will have those days.  There are a few rewarding points to my job though.  I like all my co-workers and they are like family to me now.  Plus helping people is always great!  Bringing a smile to someone's face is always a joy!  Then you have the not so nice people in the world but you must look past their dark souls and try to find some ounce of good in them.  I should start a blog called "Confessions of a Hotel employee" that might be a fun idea.  Even though we are not a huge hotel chain.  We are locally owned and operated in a small community.  I know I could spice up some ideas and stories though to make it seem like an interesting place.  God knows we need some excitement in this place.  Well folks, I am going to get my butt off this blog and I will be sure to try to stop back in a few days to update you to my not so exciting life.

A Year with God- Book Review

A Year with God by R.P. Nettlehorst - Book Review for BookSneeze.com

The year with God book is a great inspirational book.  Each day the book gives you a lesson.  The book gives great scriptures along with a devotional story. The book is from God's point of view unlike our human point of view.  The book was very uplifting and gave me a reason to start thinking about God, not just in a religious sense but in a way that made me respect what God was telling us within the scriptures.  I am not a real religious person but this book made me have faith in things I did not think I could have faith in.  I thought maybe this book would be just another book that talked about religious views but this book was very inspirational in the sense that it gives you a different point of view.  This 365 day devotional is for the whole family, would be a great read for the whole family and you could discuss what each lesson has set forth for you to think about.  I would recommend this book to the religious person or the person just trying to find some faith.
